I am extremely concerned about the fact that programmers are increasingly at war with content rights owners like record companies and movie studios. This dangerous situation arises because the world can only have secure digital rights management when desktop computers cease to be general purpose computational machines. As long as it is possible for end-users to overwrite their operating systems it will be possible to install an operating system designed to subvert digital rights management. In other words they can't win until they have taken complete control of our computers and prevented every form of innovation that potentially infringes on the rights that the have accrued at the expense of the American constitution and the established rights of people all over the world.
